At-Taqwa (التقوى)
Ali Ibn Abi Talib رضي الله عنه stood over the grave
Then he said: "Oh People of the Grave, Surely your residency has been replaced,
And your wealth has been distributed,
And your women have married off,
Speak to us regarding yourselves oh people of the graves,
Inform us Oh people of the graves,
The grave doesn't speak oh brothers!
Then he turned to the Sahaba and said "By Allaah, if these graves spoke, they would say
وَتَزَوَّدُوا۟ فَإِنَّ خَيْرَ ٱلزَّادِ ٱلتَّقْوَىٰ ۚ
And take provisions, but surely the best provision is At-Taqwa [2:197]
Ibn Kathir رحمه الله writes in his Tafseer about this Ayah, "When Allaah required mankind to supply themselves with what sustains them for the journeys of this life, He directed them to the necessary provisions for the Hereafter: Taqwa.
We should all heed this Advice!
We should take provision for ourselves in this world, and sustain ourselves in order to fulfil the sole purpose of your creation.
Obedience to Allaah ﷻ!
Don't take the provision of this world in excess!
For the best provision is Taqwa in order to gain the best Akhirah!
Allaah ﷻ says
وَلِبَاسُ التَّقْوَىٰ ذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ ۚ
And the clothing of Taqwa is better. [7:26]
The wearing of Taqwa is better than the adorning of fine clothes!
Again, the message is repeated!
Taqwa is better for you!
Why?
It prepares you for the hereafter!
And what is Taqwa?
Hasan Al Basri رحمه الله said "The ones who have taqwa protect themselves from what Allaah has prohibited and act upon what He has commanded. Taqwa remains with them until they forsake many halal things fearing that they could be haram"
And what is the reward?
وَجَنَّةٍ عَرْضُهَا ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتُ وَٱلْأَرْضُ أُعِدَّتْ لِلْمُتَّقِين
Jannah as wide as the heavens and the Earth, prepared for the Muttaqeen. (Those who have Taqwa) [3:133]
If you prepare then the Akhirah is made easy for you, from the moment you die!
And the opposite is true for he who didn't prepare!
May Allaah ﷻ grant us Taqwa and gather us in His Jannatul Firdaus.
Aamiiiiiiiiin Yaa Rabb!
