ADIEU PROFESSOR TAHIR IBRAHIM.
"Every soul shall have a taste of death. And nor can a soul die except by Allah leave, the term being fixed as by writing."
The simple minded Professor was always a beacon to emulate. I cannot forget his simplicity in dealing with the larger society at the same time strict to his principles and idealogies.
Whenever we meet nomatter the circumstances Prof stayed and discuss with me for not less than 30 minutes.
I recalled my last two encountered with Prof, one was in the Bank and we spent closed to one hour discussing outside on health issue to do with his daughter especially his trip to Egypt and I offered him a good advice and promised to get him the phone number of one reknowed international neurologist and chief consultants of neurology Professor BB Shehu and two days after I texted him the number.
My last meeting with him was the day my wife delivered, coincidentally we came at the same time to a medicine store and a chemist in Wunti and as usual we chart for 30 minutes and Prof asked me do I have Fatimah among my children and I said no, and he then said " I advice you to name the baby girl Fatimah" which I obliged and promised to honour his advice. He further told me that the name is full of blessings "Barakah". But after discussing with my wife, she told me she had her planned and at the end she named the baby Hauwa.
Now iam left with the heavy task to fulfilled my brother's wish and I assured everyone reading this condolence if their is any delivery in my house and a baby girl is born for that matter, my promised is to fulfilled Prof wished by God willing (Insha Allahu). And if I have non I will request from my offsprings to have "Fatimah" to justify my promise to Prof.
As we never know our entry so also we will never know our exit.
"This world is not my home, I am just a passing through, my treasure are laid up somewhere beyond the blue. The angels beckon me from heaven's open door, And I can't feel at home in this world anymore. Oh Lord you know I have non like you."
Surely. We missed the good and excellent ones in our mixed. With uncontrollable tears in my eyes I fare you well Prof. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
Ameen.
